A Perfect Day at
The Station House

On arrival to The Station House, Kilmessan I just knew it was going to be another amazing visit as through the trees I could see the staff were preparing the outdoor ceremony area – “The Turntable”, cleaning and polishing candle lanterns, setting out the seating, preparing for all eventualities with cozy blankets and umbrellas just in case.
Thankfully I had layered up too as it was a bright but chilly afternoon.
The birds were in full song and the walkway to The Turntable was framed by daffodils and other spring delights.
And so my first outdoor Wedding Ceremony gig of 2023 was about to happen and it was only February. #bringiton
Caroline & Jill of The Station House Wedding team were on hand to welcome and help myself and Jacqui Lee aka “The Serene Celebrant” with anything we needed.
I quickly got set up in advance for the drinks reception in the main bar and then headed back to the Turntable as the guests were about to take their seats and we got word that Fiona was ready to make her entrance.

Pre-Ceremony
Pre-ceremony music is key to creating a welcoming atmosphere as guests arrive to a wedding ceremony. Whether it be in the church setting or for a civil, humanist, spiritual etc . wedding ceremony – the arrivals music is that little something extra that I like to include for all my wedding couples.
For Fiona & Gary’s wedding guests I decided to sing some old classics and some not so old hits which included:
- Here Comes The Sun
- My Girl
- Stand By Me
- Yours (Ella Henderson)
The Ceremony
The Wedding Ceremony itself included readings by family members, a Candle Lighting Ceremony, Fiona & Gary’s Love Story read by Celebrant Jacqui and of course the vows and exchange of rings. All while being surrounded by the beauty of nature at The Turntable. How lucky we all were to be experiencing such a special occasion at this amazing location. There is always something very special about an outdoor ceremony and The Station House is ideal for it!

Let’s Party!!
Drinks & Canapé Reception followed on the Station Platform and in the Station House for the afternoon reception. I treated guests to an uptempo set, performing everything from Joe Dolan to George Ezra. It was so nice to see people mingling between indoors and outdoors as the evening sun kept us all warm and in good spirits before the guests were called for the evening banquet…
Like I said, another amazing visit to The Station House Hotel, Kilmessan.
