Keeping your wedding guests entertained during cocktail hour!
So, you’ve just tied the knot. You’ve exchanged rings and vows. Maybe you’ve shed a tear or two. And now it’s time to party. Bring on the drinks reception! And of course the amazing drinks reception music!!
Do we need drinks reception music?
I say yes. Let’s get the party started. Although it might be early in the day – this is a perfect time to ease your wedding guests into the party atmosphere on your wedding day. The pre-dinner drinks reception is a time when your guests can mingle, chat, enjoy some nibbles and drinks and just relax and enjoy the vibe. Put money aside in your wedding budget and book your drinks reception music – you will not regret it.
Adding live music to your drinks reception is a great way of keeping your guests happy and as the old saying goes: time flies when you’re having fun. So no one will be watching the clock and longing for that dinner bell to sound.
Although as a newly married couple, you may spend some of this time getting some photos taken, you can rest assured that your party is in full swing and your guests are being well taken care of.
What can we expect to hear?
My drinks reception music setlist varies from wedding to wedding. I love working on new songs and adding in new music all the time. I just want to put together a selection of songs your wedding guests will enjoy. Nothing pretentious with me – let’s just have a good time with good music and great people. You can expect to hear all the classics that a singer-guitarist should perform. No Free Bird heckles please…
I cover a wide variety of music to suit all ages and tastes in music – so the setlist would regularly include a mix of Pop, Soft Rock, Folk, 60’s 70’s Classics, Swing & Soul, American Country and everything in between – all of which would be performed live with no backing tracks. And requests are always welcome. If I know it, I’ll play it. It’s that simple.
What artists or bands do you cover?
U2, Snow Patrol, The Cranberries, Ed Sheeran, Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen, Taylor Swift, The Tumbling Paddies, Florence And The Machine, The Killers, Kings of Leon, Elvis, The Beatles, Guns N Roses, George Ezra, The Script, Mumford & Sons, Keith Urban, The Pogues, Bob Marley, Christy Moore, The Verve, The Dubliners, Stereophonics, Picture This, Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble, The Waterboys, Joe Dolan, Fleetwood Mac, Sam Fender, Aslan…. you get the idea.
We're big country fans...
Being an Irish wedding vendor, I get this a lot! And while I do include a few country numbers, I don’t consider myself a country singer nor do I perform a full 2 hour set of country music. But I can get you a number for Patrick Feeney or one of those lads…
But seriously, it’s important to keep in mind that your wedding guests will vary in age and their music taste will be vast. So this is why I love to mix it up and I promise you that there’ll be something for everyone in my drinks reception music setlist.
I suppose another way of looking at it is this:
I’m a massive fan of grunge and heavy rock (genuinely I am) – but I’m not going to subject your family and friends to 2 hours of Megadeth and Pearl Jam
Can we see a sample setlist?
